The Joinery is owned and managed by local mum of four, vet’s wife, and Perth College UHI Professional Cookery graduate, Ann Durston.

“I took ownership of The Joinery in November 2016, and along with the support of my family and wonderful team of hardworking staff, I am extremely proud of how much we have achieved since then!

Right from the start my aim has been to offer fresh, simple, tasty food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our focus is very much on good quality produce and excellent customer service. I believe consistency in what we do is hugely important and I am proud that this has been proven to be one of our key strengths.

Much of this is down to my fabulous team – they truly are my biggest asset! I strive to provide a supportive working environment centred around good communication, fairness, and commitment – we work hard and there’s no doubt it can be exhausting sometimes, but we also have lots of laughs along the way. To me, having a happy atmosphere in the kitchen and being able to create a good work/life balance (not just for for myself but for the rest of the team too), is what it’s all about. In fact I believe it’s especially important in a hospitality setting – no one wants to see stressed out miserable staff when they’re out for a coffee!”
